The main objective of this mission is to develop the MHPSS component of the project currently implemented by MDM in the area, through ongoing assessments of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support needs, integration of MHPSS activities into Primary Healthcare and link with other protection actors to ensure a holistic approach, in line with Médicos Del Mundo (MdM) policies.
He/she will also ensure an appropriate MHPSS approach in the project aligned with the IASC MHPSS guidelines for emergencies and humanitarian settings. He/she will be in charge of the technical support of the MHPSS team and of planning and implementing trainings.
GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE OF INTERVENTION:
The successful candidate will be based in North East Syria (NES)
The successful candidate will be part of the mission senior management team and will report to the NES Coordinator, with a technical link to the MHPSS technical referent in Madrid HQ.
ü Coordinate, follow up and train MHPSS staff.
ü Develop the strategy, support and monitor the implementation of MHPSS activities.
ü Provide assistance and training to staff in relevant topics based on MHPSS program priorities.
ü Put in place the necessary and harmonized tools to centralize and report all information regarding activities, ensuring quality of the program.
ü Monitor the implementation of a specific data collection system and assure data management of MHPSS activities in cooperation with Information Manager.
ü Develop tools and protocols.
ü Assess MHPSS needs in the project on a regular basis.
ü Integrate MHPSS approach in MdM’s Medical programs (Primary Health Care)
ü Identify existing and strengthen networks of services, to provide mental health and psychosocial support
ü Assess feasibility of community based MHPSS programs in upcoming stages of the project.
ü Identify and link with GVB and Protection mechanisms.
ü Participate in MHPSS Cluster or working groups
ü Coordinate with other MHPSS actors in the area.
ü Contribute to new donor proposals and reports
ü Contribute to MdM strategy
ü Draft and regularly revise job descriptions and written tests for MHPSS staff, in cooperation with MHPSS supervisors and Field Coordinator.
ü Conduct technical appraisal with the MHPSS Supervisors, with the Field Coordinators
ü Participate in the recruitment process of the MH team, with the Field Coordinators.
Required: hold a Master degree in psychology or psychiatry, and demonstrate both successful clinical and humanitarian field experiences on mental health and psychosocial activities in international or emergency cooperation projects.
Holding a Master or Course on Gender & International Cooperation is a strong asset
Prior work experience in MHPSS programs both in international and humanitarian settings is required.
Experience working with population in conflicts and knowledge of protection issues.
Experience in gender approach in emergency context is a strong asset
Languages: Fluent in English, Arabic and Spanish are an asset
Computing: Microsoft Office
